NEON HYPERGLOSSIA

NEON HYPERGLOSSIA

Neon Hyperglossia imagines a future humanity attempting to remember itself through the remnants of word-based language. The piece rescues rhythms and pulses from selected texts, highlighting the structures that contain them and continue to pulse beyond the absence of their words. By erasing the texts, I leave only their punctuation marks, periods, commas, exclamation marks, and question marks

That transform into breaths, beats, gasps, tongue clicks, and silences persisting in collective space.

Inspired by thinkers like Donna Haraway, Sara Ahmed, Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui, and Fabio Zerpa, I created a sonic collage using my own voice, South American bird calls and field recordings, vinyl records, analog sound effects, and synthesizers, an archaeology of the collective unconscious.

Commissioned by Artangel (UK) for the album Earth Rising – Messages from the Blue Dot Vol. I (2025), the work responds to the invitation to “present humanity to itself” through radical listening: asking what remains of the human when words are gone, and what other voices, marginal, hybrid, non-human, might continue speaking to us from the edges of language.

As a continuation of Carl Sagan’s Golden Record sent into space in 1977 The Voyager.
