ABOUT
Uteroclub Is a LIVE project of Emilia Álvarez and Laura Fuchs, that takes the idea of the uterus (as a biological technology) and the atmosphere of a nightclub (as a potential space for community and diversity). The project investigates the relationship between the two environments, as a shared space that enables encounter, connection, and mutation between bodies.
To do so, it summons, on one hand, a uterine state evoking the aqueous as one of the first mediums of life and its functioning as a natural machinic technology, and, on the other, the nightclub ritual as a catalyst for communication and transformation among bodies.
The sonic proposal by Emilia Álvarez, activated with live hardware, mutate from sounds featuring field recordings of animal biology and pulse, the aquatic world, vocals, and noise, into a danceable Techno set. On the visual side, Laura Fuchs will use her own footage recording biomaterials, which she manipulates with digital effects in real time. The visual setup will also feature a microscopic webcam to record biomaterials in situ. All of this aims to achieve a "live" dialogue between machine-light, tangible biomaterials, and their microscopic video-recording.
Both proposals will feed into each other in real time, traversed by this concept of the uterus and the connection to the nightclub ritual, moving between the organic and abstract toward repetitions and the pulse of life.
